FREYCINETIA.

Feminei : Ovaria creberrima, spadicem undique et arctissimè obtegentia, libera, nuda (perianthio destituta), ad basim staminibus 1-8 minutis effetis (?) cincta, saepius quinquangulata, unilocularia. Stamina effeta (!) : antherae cordatae, biloculares, secundùm longitudinem dehiscentes. Stigma sessile, adnatum, disciforme, è lineolis 2-7 subannularibus (nonnisi versus centrum stigmatis interruptis), prominentibus corneis, placentarum paribus respondentibus efformatum, coronam dentis mollaris quodam modo referens.
Fructus baccati, molles (teste Brown), interdum per paria connati, uniloculares. Placentae parietales 4-14, per paria aproximatae, angustissimè lineares, pericarpio secundùm longitudinem adnatae. Semina creberrima, minuta, fusiformia, striata subarcuata, ad unum (exteriùs) latus strophiola longitudunali notata, rubro-colorata, podospermio (funiculo umbilicati) brevi stipitata, in pulpa mucosa subliquida natantia.
Perispermium carnosum ? hyalinum. Embryo minutissimus, in parte superiore perismii locatus, obovato-subturbinatus.
Caudex sublignosus, scandens et radicans, interdum arboreus. Folia imbricata, angusta infernè vaginantia et amplexicaulia, margine dorsoque spinulosa ; floralia bracteiformia, colorata. Spadices (feminei) terminales, oblongo-cylindracei vel ovati.
