Calix glumae duae, membranaceae, acuminatae, inferior major, superiorem involvens. Stamina duo, glumis et inter opposita, exserta, libera. Antherae ellipticae, peltatae, biloculares; loculi marginales, angusti, secundùm longitudinem dehiscentes. Ovarium unicum (interdum ovaria duo, altero effceto.), stipitatum, biloculare; ovulum I, in quolibet loculo, suspensum, stigma sessile, bipartitum; laciniis elongatis, subulatis, exsertis. Fructus longè stipitatus, ad basim glumis filamentisque persistentibus cinctus, ellipticus, compresus, apice emarginato-bilobus, hinc et hindè sulco longitudinali notatus, laevis, glaber, bilocularis, loculicido-bivalvis, dissepimento secundùm longitudinem fisso. Semina solitaria, suspensa, loculum replens, tylindraceo-oblonga, apice rotundata hiloque oblongo notata, basi acuminata, laevia, integumentum simplex, tenue, membranaceum. Perispermium semini conforme, carnosum.
Embryo exterius, conicus ad extremitaten inferiorem, hilo oppositam, situs.
Herbula muscoidea, caespitosa, glabra; caules erecti, subfastigiati, supernè ramosi, densè foliosi; ramis sparsis, aapice unifloris; floribus subsessilibus; foliis arctè imbricatis, subulato-triquetris, infernè valdè dilatatis et vaginantibus; ligulâ integrâ.
